Frankie, aka Spoon Gal creates beautiful, functional pieces using reclaimed local timbers, and known “pests” like Camphor Laurel wherever possible. She started with spoon carving and “branched out” 😀 to include many other forms.

She is endlessly fascinated with the properties and characters of different timbers, as well as the grounding nature of working with it, and she particularly loves the idea of creating something that has the sole purpose of nourishing the recipient.

I love creating pieces that are made to be used, loved and kept. Whether it’s a quilt for a new baby, birthday bunting that comes out year after year, or a keepsake made especially for someone, I think handmade pieces have a wonderful way of becoming part of our memories.
Sustainability is important to me too. I use quality fabrics and try to make use of my offcuts wherever I can, turning them into smaller gifts and keepsakes rather than letting beautiful fabric go to waste.
